Monaco Grand Prix 2027: How I'd Experience It, and Why

I heard it before I saw it.

I was standing at the Fairmont Hairpin in Monte Carlo this summer, my first day in town before boarding Silversea's Silver Ray. A motorcycle came down the hill toward the turn. The rider leaned so far over, nearly touching the road, and braked hard just to get around. This is the slowest corner in Formula 1. Watching one bike fight its way through it, I couldn't picture a race car doing the same.

I'd spent that whole morning walking the circuit. Parts of the race were still set up along the road, months after the cars had gone. Monte Carlo was doing what Monte Carlo always does, full of fame, money and the people who come to look at both. But standing on that corner, I could almost hear the engines.

When is the Monaco Grand Prix in 2027?

The 2027 Monaco Grand Prix takes place June 4 to 6, 2027. It's Round 8 of the Formula 1 season.

Why Monaco is different from every other race

Most Formula 1 races happen on purpose-built tracks outside the city. Monaco is the opposite. The race runs through the streets, past the harbour and around corners you can walk the rest of the year. That's why it feels so close. It's also why the way you experience it changes everything.

I love fast cars. Growing up in Hungary, Sunday meant the race. So I'll admit I'm not neutral about this one.

What most people get wrong about the Monaco Grand Prix

They plan around the seat.

The seat matters, of course. But the race is one Sunday afternoon. What stays with you is the days around it. How you arrived. What you drove. Who was next to you when the cars came through.

When clients tell me they want Monaco, what they really want is the feeling I had at that hairpin. A ticket alone won't give you that.

The way I'd do it: ten days from the Alps to the Riviera

The experience I recommend is a ten-day, small-group journey across four countries. It starts in the Alps and winds its way down to the Mediterranean.

Each day you drive something different, the latest models from Ferrari, McLaren, Aston Martin and Lamborghini. Mountain passes one day, coastal roads the next. By the time you reach Monaco, you're not a spectator arriving for the weekend. You've earned the view.

And the view is the best part. Race weekend is spent with Grand Prix hospitality aboard a private superyacht in the harbour. You watch from the water, with the circuit wrapped around you.

In my opinion, this is a five-star way to experience the Monaco Grand Prix that very few people ever get. It's the one I'd choose for myself.
